This will reduce the chance of dirt to stick deeper within your carpet fibres. Baking soda can be sprinkled on top of your carpet to absorb odours before you vacuum giving a fresh smell.
2. Clean Stains immediately
The longer that stains are left on carpet, the deeper they will dry through making it harder to clean in the long run. Most stains can be cleaned using plain tap water, by first using a dry cloth to absorb the spill first then using a damp towel to slowly blot till the stain comes out. By rubbing the stain, the fibres can become damaged.
3. Matts, Rugs and Runners
With family visiting more often during the summer, people may wear shoes throughout the house so it would be a good idea to keep a runner or in areas such as the hallway to reduce carpet wear in places where there is a constant flow of people. Placing coarse doormats at entrances remove soil from shoes, or water absorbent doormats to avoid making the carpets wet. If you still can’t get rid of those pesky rug stains, give us a call, we offer rug cleaning across Leicester and the Midlands.
4. No Shoes
By making a general rule of no shoes in the house, it will hugely reduce the dirt and soil drying into the carpet. By using previous tips and placing mats by the entrances as a shoe area, the dirt will remain on the shoes or will only be dried onto the mats that are much easier and quicker to clean. Kindly ask guests to remove shoes at the entrance however please note that some guests may prefer not.
